MenuetOS has been written with 32 bit x86 assembly language from the ground up to support 32 bit assembly programming as a platform for faster and smaller system footprint.

Menuet has no unix roots and the basic system is meant to be clean asm based structure. Menuet isn’t based in any particular operating system, since the idea has been to remove the extra layers between different parts of software, which complicate programming and create bugs.

Menuet's application structure is not specifically reserved for asm programming, the header can be produced with practically any other language. However, the overall application programming design is intended for easy 32 bit asm programming. The GUI is extremely easy to handle with assembly language.

ini informasi linux di Notebook saya :
- Toshiba 430CDT : Pentium 120, 32 M, 1.2 G, TFT - PCMCIA : 3Com 3c562 (LAN + Modem 33.6)
- Linux Slackware 3.5 - Kernel 2.0.35
- Card service : pcmcia-cs-3.0.5
instalasi di harddisk : - partisi windows saya ubah (fips) dari 1.2 menjadi 800 M (/dev/hda1) - bootdisk : net.i, rootdisk : pcmcia.gz (karena saya install menggunakan nfs) - partisi untuk linux : 32 M swap (/dev/hda2) dan 331+ M ext2fs (/dev/hda3) - install slackware developer + kernel source + xwindows - copy ke lokal patch kernel patch-2.0.35.gz (saya mau upgrade kernel ke 2.0.35) - copy ke lokal pcmcia-cs-3.0.5.gz (pcmcia support terbaru) - compile kernel <- sound support - lilo Sekarang sudah jalan, oh ya untuk file XF86Config-nya ada di ftp server

Saya sebelum ini juga sudah install tapi dengan slackware 3.4 tidak ada masalah, berikut KDE (ada di posting saya terdahulu). Hasilnya, SANGAT bagus, terutama untuk interface ke user si KDE baik sekali (di hp dia gambar Toshiba tuh :-) Sekarang belum di-install KDE (rencana sih sudah ada, KDE 1.0). Software yang sudah jalan : iptraf (lan monitoring, sangat baik untuk freeware saya rasa), siag (jauhlebih ringan daripada so, kemampuan maupun resource ;-), x11amp (bisa baca cd mp3 sekarang -> joliet format ;-), mtv
(sama, untuk baca vcd sudah langsung).


Yang pasti sih Notebook + Linux = kompak.



Oh ya,
PCMCIA diatur card service, jadi nggak langsung oleh kernel, dan untuk
pcmcia-cs-3.0.5 support sebagian Xircom card maupun Megahertz; ini dari
SUPPORTED.CARDS :

Rencananya di homepage mau ditambahi isinya dengan keterangan cara singkat
koneksi dengan Linux, belum sempat oey :-), sibuk nyari freeware atau "low
cost ware" untuk analyzer di Lan (seperti lanstat di FreeBSD), ada yang
bisa kasih informasi ? Di freshmeat ketemunya ya iptraf itu. Soalnya kalau
Sniffer dari NG bisa sampai 20 K (= 200 jut rp ) lebih ...

Dear Tech Support,

Last year I upgraded from Boyfriend 5.0 to Husband 1.0 and noticed slow
down in the overall performance, particularly in the flower and
jewellery applications that had operated flawlessly under Boyfriend
5.0.


In addition, Husband 1.0 un-installed many other valuable programs,
such
as Romance 9.5 and Personal Attention 6.5, but installed undesirable
programs such as NFL 5.0, NBA 3.0 and ESPN 2.0.

And now Conversation 8.0 no longer runs and House Cleaning 2.6 simply
crashes the system.

I've tried running Nagging 5.3 to fix these problems, but to no avail.

What can I do?

Reply: Dear Desperate,
First keep in mind; Boyfriend 5.0 is an entertainment package, while
Husband 1.0 is an operating system.
Try entering the command C:\ I THOUGHT YOU LOVED ME and download Tears
6.2 to install Guilt 3.0. If all works as designed, Husband 1.0 should
then automatically run the applications Jewellery 2.0 and Flowers 3.5.

But remember, overuse can cause Husband 1.0 to default to Grumpy
Silence
2.5, Happy Hour 7.0 or Beer 6.1. Beer 6.1 is a very bad program that
will create SnoringLoudly.wav files.

Whatever you do, DO NOT install Mother-in-Law 1.0 or reinstall another
Boyfriend program. These are not supported applications and will crash
Husband 1.0.

In summary, Husband 1.0 is a great program, but it does have a limited
memory and cannot learn new applications quickly. You might consider
additional software to improve memory and performance. I personally
recommend Hot Food 3.0 and Lingerie 6.9.
