Best Mountain Bike film of 2011

The anticipated mountain bike film is already being called the year's best and is drawing comparisons to Red Bull's "The Art of Flight" snowboard movie. It features sick riding from Thomas Vanderham, Stevie Smith, Matt Hunter, and others, and was filmed in collaboration with the Coastal Crew and Anthill, both based in British Columbia. The film will premiere in Whistler next week and be available on DVD in early December.

"The Cross Canada Project" attempts to document the experiences of long-distance bicycle touring. Using a specially designed weatherproof camera mounted to his bicycle, Mike Beauchamp is able to film himself without interruption in all conditions as he attempts to ride his bicycle over 7000 KM across Canada from the Pacific Ocean to the Atlantic Ocean. Along the way he practices "stealth camping", visits distant relatives, encounters strangers and other cyclists and explores abandoned houses. Set to an original soundtrack and using video diaries, recorded phone conversations and radio interviews, Mike illustrates the struggles of a touring cyclist and explores the vastness of the Canadian landscape... all for "something to do".

When i first saw this video, i was totally stoked. What a nice bike flick. It was directed by Daniel Leeb of Cinecyle Productions funded by Hutchinson tires. This video illustrates how much cycling can mean to two completely different individuals.

The guy on the video who ride the Masi Fixie has some pretty sick skills to make thing even better. He makes it look so easy.

This short film features Alfred Bobe Jr. and Fatimah Durkee. The film spins a visual ballad between the two cyclists experiencing the city in their own unique ways. Both cyclists are city dwellers who amidst the chaos of the concrete jungle have created a private and peaceful psychological space as they traverse the streets. They are both alone and yet they are both very much aware of each others presence. The film speaks to the harmony with one’s environment that can be found while riding a bicycle in a city and the synchronistic connection we can have with those we have not even met. The short was commissioned by Hutchinson tires.


This is one of the best promotional vids i have ever seen for tires.

Damn i'm starting to like this fixie bike.. hmmmm :)

Take professional downhillers Rowan Sorrell and Aimee Dix, trials genius Danny MacAskill and beard owner and skills coach Ed Oxley to a big mountain in the lake district, throw in some filming from MTBCut and what do you have? Some amazing footage and a great video to watch on a Friday afternoon to start building some excitement for the weekend’s riding ahead!
It’s amazing to watch Danny and Rowan battling it out with their very different styles. It’s also amazing to watch Danny riding at that speed, any rider that can stay with Rowan dowhill is very quick, and it goes to show that Danny has some serious skills, beyond the street trials that made him famous!
