Recently i bought a cycle computer Cateye brand Velo 8 model. So i guess i'd put up a couple of pictures on how i installed it.Nothing fancy about it.. just an inexpensive one that i found for under 40 ringgit. But it able to performs all the basic function that i really wanted such as
- Calorie consumption
- Current speed
- Average speed
- Maximum speed
- Trip distance
- Total distance
- Elapsed time
- Clock(12/24 hr.)

The installation is quitely straight foward actually..involves mounting the device onto the handlebars and then mounting the sensor on the fork and spokes.
The device uses a magnetic sensor which being attached on the fork that tracks a magnetic screw on the spokes. After installation, you need to enter a calibration number from the instructions that tells the computer how big your wheels are so that it can calculate and figure out how far the bike has traveled for each wheel revolution. Each time the wheel pass around the magnet on the spokes, it registers a single revolution of the front wheel then the computer will do some calculation and walaaaa it will know your current speed and how far you have traveled.
Is fun actually having to know how fast your are going and how far you have gone and how much calorie your have burned out.If you don't have one of these, i would personally recommend you to have one.

I do have that installed on my commuting chromoly mtb bike. But i think the calorie burnt is not that accurate compared to a heart rate monitor. But anyhow at least u know how much calorie u have burnt. During heavy rain it will not read accurately. So i will just took it off if its rain heavily.
Azizan, thanks for the comment.. im still a noobie to the bike gadget and stuff..hmm perhaps will try the heart monitor gadget in the future. For now i guess as long i can see some readings.. and my cumulative mileage it should be enough to motivates me to ride more..insyallah :).
By the way whats the model for the heart rate monitor? Is it the strada wireless..?
I am using a Cateye Heart Rate HR20. it's a watch with a heart rate sensor strapped to your body. U can get it at Samy or Yong( Fook Sang Sg Way) akuler bought at Samy for RM240. I got mine for RM250 at Yong's place. There's another model HR10 which is cheaper. But I guess better get d HR20 model.
Aiyoh... apsal lagi murah sekarang? Wa pakai benda sama, ok. Cuma kalau tak laju meter tu pun gerak slow kehkehkeh
